Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 1, 2026
Obnold Pte Ltd ("Obnold", "we", "us", or "our") provides Obnold SKU & Barcode Hygiene, an app for the Shopify admin that checks a shop's product SKUs and barcodes and helps the merchant correct them. This Privacy Policy explains what information the app processes when a merchant installs and uses it.
Information we process
- Shop and connection information: the shop's myshopify.com domain and Shopify shop ID, the access token Shopify issues to the app, and the access scopes granted (the app requests product access only).
- Product catalog information read from Shopify: product and variant IDs, titles, handles, statuses and option values, and each variant's SKU and barcode. The app keeps a copy of this information to find problems and to check changes before and after they are made.
- Information the app creates: scan history, the issues found (for example a missing, duplicated or invalid SKU or barcode), the merchant's rule settings, previews of proposed changes, and a record of every change the app makes, including the previous value, the new value and the value confirmed by Shopify afterwards.
- Activity history: a log of actions such as scans, rule changes, fixes, undos and ignored issues. Actions taken by a store staff member are recorded with the numeric Shopify user ID provided by Shopify. The app does not store staff names or email addresses.
- Subscription information: the shop's plan and when it was last confirmed with Shopify's app pricing service.
- Technical records: background-task records, the IDs of webhook notifications received from Shopify, and operational logs (for example shop domain, product IDs and error details) used to run, troubleshoot and secure the app.
Issue reports exported as CSV files are generated when the merchant requests them and are downloaded directly; the app does not keep a copy.
Information we do not process
The app does not request access to, collect or store customer data or order data. It does not add scripts, tracking pixels or advertising cookies to the merchant's storefront, and it does not track shoppers.
How we use information
- to connect to the merchant's shop and provide the app inside the Shopify admin;
- to scan the catalog and show SKU and barcode issues;
- to change a SKU or barcode in Shopify only after the merchant has reviewed a preview and confirmed the change, and to verify and record the result;
- to keep the issue list current when products change in Shopify;
- to check which plan the shop is subscribed to; and
- to maintain, secure and support the app.
How information is shared
We exchange information with Shopify through Shopify's APIs to read the catalog and to apply changes the merchant confirms. The app and its database are hosted by Amazon Web Services in the United States, which processes information on our behalf. We may disclose information where required by law. We do not sell personal information.
Data retention and deletion
We keep the information above while the app is installed. Completed background-task records are removed after 14 days and webhook notification records after 30 days. When the app is uninstalled, it stops processing the shop and deletes the shop's access token. When Shopify sends the shop data-deletion request (48 hours after uninstalling), we delete all remaining data for the shop, including the catalog copy, issues, scan history, rules, change records and activity history.
Because the app stores no customer data, there is no customer data to provide or delete in response to a customer data request received through Shopify.
Security
Connections to the app use TLS. The app authenticates through Shopify's session tokens, verifies the signature of every webhook from Shopify, and keeps its database in a private network that is not reachable from the internet. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Merchant privacy requests
Merchants may ask about, or request access to, correction of or deletion of, the information we hold about their shop by contacting support@obnold.com. We may need to confirm that the requester is authorized to act for the shop.
Changes to this Policy
We may update this Policy when the app or applicable law changes. We will post the updated version on this page and revise the "Last updated" date.
